UPDATE 10:15 AM: Power has been restored to the majority of customers, but crews will need to replace the power pole before being able to restore power to everyone else. That will take most of the day. We estimate power will be restored to everyone by 5:30 PM.
Power is out on the southwest area of town due to a power pole being hit by a car on 1100 South. Power should be restored for most affected customers in 1.5 to 2 hours. Updates will be posted as they are available.

If the snow ever decides to fall this year, we'll need some help keeping the fire hydrants clear. Several communities do an Adopt-a-Hydrant program, and while we don't necessarily want to do a formal adoption process, Fire Marshal Alec Hansel invites residents to post photos and videos of cleared hydrants near their homes or businesses using the hashtag #BrighamHydrant
We can't wait to see your videos... when we get some snow.
Mayor Bott took some time in last week's city council meeting to talk about the cemetery. https://youtu.be/mGb1IUhnPiI

Some of you have reached out to us about work going on in the cemetery. As much as we (and everyone!) loved the lilacs, they have surpassed their life expectancy and are diseased. We are in the process of removing them.
This is one part of a larger plan to expand and beautify the cemetery. We'll have additional property on the 300 East portion for burials to take place, and the perimeter will also be landscaped. Stay tuned.
Edited to correct the area where there will be space for additional burials.
City offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 27-28, for Thanksgiving. Thursday's garbage pickup will be delayed until Friday, when pickup will occur as normal. If you have questions, contact Public Works at 435-734-6615. Happy Thanksgiving!

There are a lot of rumors and a lot of questions circulating about the nuclear ecosystem project that was announced Monday. Have you seen this feature on our website? Under the main image is a link labeled "I'd like to know," which brings you here: https://www.bcutah.gov/o/brighamcity/page/now-you-know
That page addresses some of the most common questions we get about city finances and about development projects in the city. We recently added a section about the nuclear ecosystem project. And you can submit questions as well. We try to respond to your questions as quickly as possible, and if multiple people submit the same question, we might add it to the page. Check it out!
