Great Salt Lake Road Show: Box Elder County

The Office of the Great Salt Lake Commissioner and the Great Salt Lake Advisory Council invite the public to an open forum on June 25 to voice their concerns, ideas and questions about the Great Salt Lake. The Commissioner's Office plans to hold open forums in various parts of the state, with the first being held in Brigham City.

Utah leaders Brian Steed, Tim Davis and Tim Hawkes will provide an update on the condition of the lake and the actions that are underway, followed by open comments. We invite community members to join and help shape solutions for preserving this vital natural resource.

Two years of above-average snowpack have dramatically improved our water supply. Reservoirs are at about 93% capacity, which is a significant improvement over last year, when they were 75% full. The Great Salt Lake has come up about 6.5’ from its historic low, but it’s still several feet below a healthy range. The priority is to conserve, dedicate and deliver water to the lake, which requires a collective effort from all Utahns. We look forward to hearing from the public and working together.
