The 4th of July is just around the corner, and we have a full day of fun activities planned at Rees Pioneer Park.
Construction on the Forest Street overpass will affect traffic, particularly after fireworks in the evening. See below for information about leaving the area, and plan ahead!
Activities at the park
8:00 AM — kids bike parade; to participate, come to the park at 8:00 AM with a decorated pedal bike or scooter (nothing with motors, please)
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM — Dunk-A-Cop
10:00 AM — horseshoe tournament
10:00 AM – 6:00 PM — swim at the pool for $5/person
5:30 PM – 10:00 PM — food trucks in the park
8:00 PM – 10:00 PM — live music by the Ty Pebley Band
10:00 PM or dusk — fireworks
Access to the park
Due to overpass construction, there will be no access traveling east on Forest Street. The public will need to use 1100 South or SR 13, or detours on 400 South or 600 North. Parking will be available at the swimming pool through the east entrance only. Parking is also available in the lot north of the pond. The parking lot at the pickleball courts will be closed all day.
No parking will be allowed on American Way and there will be no pedestrian access across the tracks or in any part of the work zone.
After the fireworks
Vehicles exiting the Pioneer Park lot north entrance will be required to turn left onto 600 West. Vehicles existing the south entrance will be required to go straight onto 100 North or turn right onto 600 West and then turn left onto Forest Street. They will not be allowed to cross Forest Street.
Vehicles exiting the pool parking lot will be required to turn left. They will be able to turn right onto 600 West or continue straight on Forest Street. They will not be allowed to make a left turn onto 600 West.
Those traveling north on 600 West will not be allowed to cross Forest Street. They will need to turn right at that intersection.
See the maps below for illustrations of the traffic routes.
