Medical Insurance

Brigham City employees can choose between comprehensive medical insurance through PEHP or a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). The City provides a generous upfront HSA contribution and match with our HDHP.

Employees who elect not to enroll in one of the medical plans because they have other insurance coverage are eligible to receive an opt-out stipend.

Dental Insurance

Employees who opt out of medical coverage are still eligible for dental coverage. The City offers dental insurance through TDA. Insurance premiums are paid with pre-tax dollars.

Vision Insurance

Brigham City offers two vision plan through Opticare. These plans provide coverage with copays for eye exams, frames, lenses, contact lenses, etc.

Vacation

Most employees* accrue 10 days per year, beginning on the first paycheck. The highest accrual rate is 20 days per year for employees who have 15 plus years of service. Employees can carry 240 hours from one year to the next. Twice a year, excess leave can be paid out in cash or to the employee's 401(k), 457(b), or HSA.

*Fire/EMS Department accrues leave on a different schedule.

Personal Leave

40 hours of personal leave is available when employment begins. Most employees* accrue 10 days per year to be used for personal illness or injury. Employees can carry 80 hours from one year to the next. Once a year, excess leave can be converted at 50% and paid out in cash or to the employee's 401(k), 457(b), or HSA.

*Fire/EMS Department accrues leave on a different schedule.

Holiday Pay

Employees receive 13 paid holidays each year: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Pioneer Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas.


Short-Term and Long-Term Disability; Parental Leave

The City provides short-term disability insurance coverage that would pay you a benefit of 66.67% of your weekly earnings, with a maximum of $1,250 per week.

For those disabled for at least 90 days, our long-term disability benefit will pay 66.67% of your earnings to a maximum monthly benefit of $8,000.

We offer three weeks of paid parental leave when a child enters the family through birth, adoption, or foster.

Retirement

In most cases, Brigham City contributes a minimum of 10% of your salary toward your Utah Retirement Systems pension plan. Employees hired on or before June 30, 2011, are enrolled in the Tier I Public Employee, Public Safety, or Fire Retirement System. Employees hired July 1, 2011, or later are enrolled in the Tier 2 Retirement Public Employee or Public Safety Retirement System. In addition to your Utah Retirement Systems pension, Brigham City provides employees with a 4% match into a 401(k) account with URS.

In addition to the 401(k), we also allow contributions to 457(b), IRA, and Roth IRA plans.

Group Life Insurance and AD&D

Brigham City Corp. provides $50,000 of group life and AD&D coverage through Lincoln Financial Group for all eligible employees, as well as dependent life coverage of $5,000 on your spouse and $2,000 on each eligible dependent child. This is 100% employer paid.

Supplemental life insurance is also available for you and your eligible dependents. This is a voluntary benefit with premiums paid through payroll deduction.
