Brigham City Cemetery welcomes families and friends of those interred to decorate graves and leave flowers throughout the year. Brigham City Corporation and the Cemetery will not be responsible for flowers or other personal property left in the Cemetery.
Cemetery regulations require that all flowers, real or artificial, must be placed in a container attached to the monument. Flowers in movable containers must be placed on the headstone or base to ensure easy access for grass cutting. Planting or digging flowers in the lawn is not permitted. For safety reasons, glass containers, wires, irons, sticks or pegs driven in the ground are not permitted and will be immediately removed. Use of shepherd's hooks is restricted to Memorial Day through the following Monday and during the month of December. Shepherd's hooks at any other time will be removed by cemetery staff.
It is unlawful attach any balloon, decoration, or flowers on top of the niche wall or columbarium, or on the face of the niche wall or columbarium. Flowers are permitted in rosebud vases that are built into or attached professionally on niche face plates. Flowers are permitted around the base of the columbarium or niche wall as long as they do not obstruct walkways.
Cemetery crews begin preparation for Memorial Day the Monday prior to the holiday. Preparations including mowing, trimming and weeding usually take the entire week to complete. Sprinkler irrigation is stopped from Friday afternoon through the end of Memorial Day to allow for the placement of decorations. Flower regulations as listed above will be strictly enforced.
The Cemetery office will be staffed on Memorial Day from 9am to 1pm to assist the public in finding graves. Due to heavy office traffic on these days, Cemetery staff will not be able to assist in family genealogy.
Cemetery cleanup will begin the Monday morning following Memorial Day. Anyone desirous of picking up their wreaths or decorations should do so prior to that Monday.
When the cleanup sweep is done all decorations that are removed are taken to the county landfill for disposal. Those wishing to reclaim their decoration are encouraged to do so prior to the cleanup.
